Cheating

It's sad that some individuals still seek to gain advantage in places with blatant short-cutting. Again this year I had a report of a runner (Harwich) cutting the field after Bacon's Farm and gaining a couple of places even though the other runners were following the correct route and the instructions explicitly ask that this field is run correctly (see bottom of paragraph 4).

Re: Cheating

Agreed - 3-4 runners overtook me at this point as I was correctly running the two sides of the rectangle/field.  The corner they cut enabled them to run-shorter / over-take me plus 1 or 2 others.  I had seen 3-4 runners running back from a mistake they made earlier on the course - assuming it was the same runners presumably this was their justification and saw this as their prerogative.  However, mistakes of their own surely doesn't justify subsequent shortcuts?  I appreciate this is largely an 'un-marshalled' course etc - although 1 marshall at the corner would stop this in future.
